Ok so i'm interested in trying driftwood in my 1og tank. I have no idea where I could find it or buy it though. Also i'm curious if it has any benefits or if its just really nice to look at.

Any good local fish store should have it. I don't know if it would have any benefits (other than looking good). If you get any make sure you soak it of boil it for a long time (soak 24 hours+).

I had to soak my wood for 6days and it still slightly tinted the water. Though i think it looks good .

It creates "black" water. I think some species do well in it like angels. It also buffers the ph and keeps the water softer.

If you go to the reptile section at any chain petstore they usually have mopani driftwood or small pieces of wood in bags. 
It's just not labeled "for aquariums" but it works great.
In my 10g I got an interesting piece of dw and attached it slate so I wouldn't have to take the time to waterlog it.
