I have a 21 litre tank with a filter and heater, yesterday my fish was alive, today I look in and he was dead. =(. I've had him for about 6 months, what could have caused this sudden death? He was living in way better conditions then most pet bettas. When I found him he was floating halfway in the tank, with his nose pointing upwards and his fins almost looked stiff... His back ones were pointing down all together.

A couple of things I think may have contributed...
- The filter media is that stringy stuff, and I have no idea how old it is, could be years old
- Last week I bought a gravel suck thing, and started doing more water changes more often because of a brown algae boom... The algae was in the filter as well. Could I have made the water quality worse by stirring up the bottom?

Just so sudden, don't get it.
