Hi All,

I just got my son a 29 gallon tank and need to do a water change. We bought the hose that attaches to the sink to make it easier. But, how do I pump the water directly into the tank without it being treated? Do I need to take the fish out every time I do this, treat the new water and then put them back in? Or, is there a way to do this while the fish are in there? Can I put the dechlorinator in as it fills?

Thanks,
Amber

Yes add the treatment as the water is going in that will be fine :)

I use buckets and just treat the bucket, I can temp match better this way. But I know most people dose for the WHOLE tank just before the water goes in, it will be fine!

Treat the tank itself while adding the water. I do the same. I use the Aqueon water changer. When filling my tank back up I just add the correct dose of Prime to the tank.

Thanks

OK, going to do an easier change now. So glad I no longer have to carry buckets of water. What a pain that was!
