Water wisteria leaves changing?

I bought water wisteria from petsmart about a week ago. Now new leaves are growing but they look different than the ones the plant came with. Does anyone know why?

Most plants Petsmart sells are grown emersed, and the emersed leaves are different than the submerged ones that it's growing now.
