Should I put a wave maker on my reef tank?

Big yes a good water flow is essential for a marine tank... It keeps dirt from settling at the bottom of the tank and helps the filtration process as well as provides good oxygenation for the corals and fish.

Can I just connect it to my existing power head?

Oh so you already have a power head in there... In that case a wave maker is not needed... Is it possible to see a picture of your tank just to get a lay of the land

I have the Hydor smart wave for my BC29. I use 2 Koralia 425's and there hooked up to the smart wave so the alternate every half hour from right to left. Seems things have been doing awesome since I've added it to my system. It gives a more natural flow IMO then the constant same flow. That's just my opinion.
