Do you mean can you use a wetdry for a reef? If so, you COULD but it's not the best way to go, at least in my opinion. A regular reef sump would be a better option.
I used one for the first seven yrs I had a reef. The media needs to be cleaned often and frequent water changes are a must since higher nitrates are the result of a wet dry system. It can be done but IMO more maint. because of it.
Oh yea they do haha I've seen a 125 custom tank with three planted mangroves clean a over stocked tank u ought to try them they are amazing so much so I would choose them over macro alge
