What are these dots?

Can anyone tell me what these dots are? They havent always been there.

If they look like salt then it's ich. (I can't actually see them in the photo - I think its my eyes LOL). Raise the tank temperature up to 88 degrees and keep it there for two weeks AFTER you see the last dot.

the red dots? looks like some kind of bacterial infection.

It could just be natural coloration. How old is it?

yeah the red dots. i have had him about 4 months. one appeared then another then another on the base of his tail... i have put some anti internal bacterial stuff in and did a water change last night. he sems to be eating ok. my nitrate was a little high as i was medicating another fish and didnt want to interrupt the medicine with a water change. (the first dot appeared before the medication) hopefully it should clear up soon.
