Can anyone identify this for me pretty please? There are several large patches of white on the inside of the aquarium glass. They look like bacteria growing in a Petri dish! I have no idea what it is. Is it an algae? Should I be worried?
I've tried googling it, but can't find anything that looks like it. Thanks in advance for any help!

Looks to me like somebody sweaty leaned against the tank to me. Is it inside or out? Also, what happens when you clean it away?

It's inside the tank ;) no sweaty people here ;) heh heh! I did think it might be snail eggs, but they are teeny tiny! Like smaller than pin prick's. I've only got Malaysian trumpet snails in there and I thought they laid eggs in jellied lumps? Correct me if I'm wrong though! I hadn't tried cleaning it off yet, but just tried rubbing it off with my finger and it did come off with a bit of effort.

Also, I just found the macro lens to go on my phone, so here's some close up shots too :)

From the front it looks white, but if you look from the side of your tank and look at the inside of the front window, what color is it? If it begins to turn brown or greenish, it is probably algae, especially since you have plants in the tank. Algae eaters love that stuff, plecos, Ottos, etc. But I'm not convinced it is algae yet

Definitely some kind of growth and not snail eggs. MTS don't lay eggs, so if you do find snail eggs you have some friends that you don't know about.

It stays white when I look at it from any angle. I have got an Otto in that tank and he hasn't eaten any of it yet. Could it be some sort of bacteria? I'm going to clean it off when I get home from work tonight so I'll see if it comes back. I just wanted to ID it before I removed the evidence ;)

Well, I've wiped it all off because I've re-scaped my tank :D let's hope it doesn't come back! What do you guys think of my tank now?

Super awesome! Love the live plants, what kind of moss do you have?

It actually hasn't been named yet :D it's grown from clippings that I was given at work. They came from a planted display tank that was planted up by some guys from Germany that I believe collected the moss themselves :) it's really nice once it gets established. It's got layers like a Christmas tree :)
