Then you would want them to grown they help filtrate all the nasties in the tank and eat up what isn't consume in your tank. They are a great asset to your reef.. I have a ton of it growing everywhere but it's not very notice able mostly grows in the dark spots in your tank. HTH
They are filter feeder which means they will take some of the excessive nutrients out of your water that causes nuisance algea. I have alot in my 11 yrs old tank. I`m glad I do. They are very beneficial.
