This dark hair like threads have been accumulating on my fake plants
It started only on this light green plant and it is now on the darker plants in the forground

looks like hair or thread algae. I usually just scrub it off in my tank, but I think there are fish that will eat it.
 
yeah its just hair algea from what i can tell, like meredith said, it should just scrub off, if not you can use plastic plant cleaner, but you have to take the plants out, soak them over night or for 8 hours and then wash them for 4 minutes lol plus its like acid so you have to wear gloves and eye protection
 
Usually prevent it or fixing the problem is better than removing the actual threads, it will keep coming back.
 
Tell me what kind of lighting and how many watts are on your 20 gallon, maybe it could be the lights.

How often do you do waterchanges? Your tank isnt heavily stocked, but you never know.
