what kind of algae is this?!

it started as a skinny little string and stayed that way for the past 4 days so i didn't think anything of it. but tonight is seems to have taken over one of my (plastic) plants, and it looks really slimy like pond scum almost, what is is and where in the world did it come from?

you said it is stringy, like your plant has a thin coat of har?

i had the same thing, didnt know what it was though, but my kissing gourami's made short work of it in 2 days

not really a coat of hair more like strands of it, kinda like a slimy cacoon, if that makes any sence.

stainds of hair is more accurate i agree, i didnt know what it was either, but my kissing gourami took great intrest in them

i didnt even have any before my bacterial bloom, the tank went white, and when i cleared it up, the hair was there

hmmm, think pond snails will help? i have tons in a two gallon tank
