Ok, I know I have read it somewhere...but for the life of me cant remember what part of the color spectrum do plants use? I have also heard many different things, I have heard red, yellow, blue, green, probably every color LOL so what do they REALLY use?

the absorption peaks for chlorophyll are around 675 nm and 440 nm

that is in the mid red and lower blue range

ok thanks! I will be looking for lights with that!
\thanks a ton :D

I know that indoor plant growers use MH for blue spectrum that promotes vegetative growth and many use HPS for the red spectrum provided for stem development and flowering kinds of plants. This is for regular indoor plants, aquatic plants might differ somewhat. So, plants in general use the red and blue spectrums.

I have used HPS over a tank in conjunction with flouro's, and it worked well, but I didnt like the orange color of the light.
