Anyone know what this white junk in my hoses is?

I setup a new classic canister(old one was still running) and after about a month the inside of the outlet hose was covered with white stuff, if I pinched the hose a bunch of white particles would come out.

I tore down the filter and roto rooted the hoses, just wondering what this crud was and why it formed so fast.

Tank is a 75 freshwater with a breeding convict pair, and various other fishes.

Thanks,

its probably lime build up from water. Unless its actualy in a part of the tubing where it touches water. Then I have no idea HTH

It's just build up in the hoses. My canisters get it also and about once a month when I do filter maintenance I take out the hoses and clean them out. If I restart my filters without doing it, the gunk blows into the tank.

I get a yellow fuury build up in both hoses of my cannister, and it is a pain to clean. It would seem to be the price of running a cannister. I'm not impressed with that part of it. HOBs are much easier to maintain.
