Hi

i have a 36 gallon bow front with about 10 1inch african cichlids. my ammonia level is high as well as my nitrate. this tank has never been clear since day 1. i have many rocks and many fake plants in the tank. is there a product you can buy for something like this?

how high is high on your ammonia level?

The cloudiness is most likely your bacteria colony attempting to establish. Looks like milky water or a white cloud in the tank?

The cloudiness is a bacterial bloom. It is caused by a tank not having been fully cycled as it sounds as though yours hasn't, and also by overcleaning filters which destroys the beneficial bacteria.

How long have you had the tank set up? Also you should know that those cichlids will rapidly outgrow that tank.

Also if you feed with flake food or with cichlid pelets any left over will cloud the water and also pollute it.
