Ok, so as you know I am in the process of setting up a 55g tank.
I would like to get one JD, 5 silver dollars, and a pictus cat.

Would ONE Emperor 400 work? I have been told that I should have TWO.

thats over filtration anyway, so depending on the amount of stocking u will have it should be fine. with the 4 convicts u mentioned that filter alone would be okay if u kept up with the pwc

the flow rate is great on those, but the actual filter media area is small
that is why a canister is better
a sunsun aquatop 303 is cheap
or on amazon
I bought mine here with a ball valve

silver dollars eat ALOT of plants if you let them
and that makes a big mess
