The Nemo Tank Guide

After the movie "Finding Nemo" came out, there was a spike in interest in keeping the types of fish that appear in the movie. I'm just a beginner myself trying to come up with a complete answer to the common "My kids want a Nemo Tank" questions.

Amano Shrimp - Caridina japonica

Most who have owned this species swear they are the best algae eaters and tank cleaners. They are known to eat nearly every kind of algae, which is one of the reasons they are so popular.

Sunset Hygro - Acanthacae (sp)

Overall, this plant will be a very easy and tolerant plant for almost any freshwater tank. Very easy care and good growth will make it a welcome addition to any tank.

Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia Merrill

Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia is found in abundance along the edges of fast-moving rivers and streams on the island of Luzon in the Phillipines. The substrate is mostly basaltic rock and gravel from nearby volcanos (some still quite active) mixed with limestone.

Leaf margins are frequently wavy and the leaves may be bullate (have a blistered or dimpled appearance). There are at least 15 different 'varieties' named on the basis of leaf shape and color.

Water Sprite - Ceratopteris species

Overall, it is difficult to plant Water Sprite incorrectly! Whether grown with its roots in the aquarium substrate or simply left floating, this fern will generally thrive in most aquariums.

Typically found upside down “resting” on the bottom side of driftwood or other cover, its ability to maneuver between objects with such delicacy is amazing.
