Clown loach with cichlids

Is it a good idea to put clown loaches in with African cichlids ?

If you have tank larger enough for the clown loaches then yes it's fine. Allot of members keep loaches with their chiclids.

I have a 75 gallon tank. How large should it be?

Well they can get up to 16" and need to be in groups of 3-5, so in a 75 short term yes. However if you want to house them long term I would suggest a 150 gal or more.
