maingano or johanni?

If it started out yellow then johanni if born blue then maingano. Also johannis get bigger

How big/old is it? As stated previously, mainganos are born blue and johs are yellow and males turn blue when they becomes sexually mature.
If it's still very young and not sexually mature it's a maingano.

they are both about 2.5 inches one of them turned very dark for about a fortnight and now has returned to his lighter blue colour I think because I removed the bumblebee.

Sorry to butt in on this link but I recently bought some fish that I was told were johanni. They were only an inch long when I bought them and they were blue does this mean that there not ?
