My daughter has a white cichlid probably about 4 inches in length. It isn't what the LFS sells as an albino(they have red veining) correct. This one is all white.

Two things--1st the fish acts strange in that is swins on it side most of the time even upside down occasionally. IS THIS NORMAL?

2nd the fish has like white dots(not ich) on its anal fin.

My daughter has been thinking of 'disposing' of the fish but so far hasn't yet. It is in an 40-50 gal tank with a tiger barb, LARGE pleco, medium pleco, large danio and a gourami. The tank has been set up well over 5 years. The med pleco, barb & cichlid just went into the large tank because their tank broke.(they were in a 10 gal)

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Abnormal swimming is, well, not normal LOL Its likely the fish has some swim bladder problem. How long has this been going on, and is it more noticeable after eating?

How long has she had it? And can you get a pic? It would make identification much easier. Or a detailed description if a photo isn't an option (fin shape, fin spines, color, body shape etc).

If the white dots on the anal fin look to be part of the fishes coloring they may be egg spots, usually meaning that it is a male.
