Saltwater mixes...

I have mixed up 4gal of saltwater twice now. I made it according to the directions of 1/2 cup to a gal of RO/DI water and both times it can out at 1.033 @ 78deg. According to the instructions it says it should come out to 1.021. I am adjusting it to 1.025 but am I doing something wrong?

My mix does the same thing.... I just mix slowly and keep testing...only way to be sure.

See what it is 24 hours later. If it`s still not there then add more water.

That is what I have been doing... just wondering if I was the only one having this problem.

Salt mixes will vary a little just from the settling some say to shake the salt up before measuring it and testing even with the same brand of salt there will differences.

And make it 24hrs ahead of time right?

Ok Joy, Last night I already had 1.5 gal made, to that I added 2 more gallons of RO/DI water and a cup of fluffed up salt. Will let you know what happened this evening. Thanks for the help

Mine does the same thing, let it settle & test again
