I am wondering if there is a coral that can act as a substitute for a host anemone. I do not want to put host anemones in my tank, as for the wandering (floating around the tank), stinging everything in the process tendencies they sometimes have. I have a flower pot coral that the clown seems to like, but I don't think the coral like's it that much as its stems or shafts retract everytime the clown comes and wiggles on in. So the flower pot has a hard time coming all the way out.

I've read that clowns may host in Sarcophyton spp. but that the fish often irritates the coral and prevents it from fully opening which can lead to the corals demise. Maybe someone else will know of a better surrogate host.

Xenia has worked well for me.

My rose anemone has not moved in the several months she has been in the tank. The maroon clown seems to keep her happy in place.
