I'm trying to remember when my tank was that clean....Nope,,I can't remember LOL nice

Thank you Jesus!

I'm not a totally religous person, but when I started filling that tank I was praying to every god imaginable it would hold. (Including the Flying Spaghetti Monster for those of you Pastafarians out there)

Moving right along...

I got the tank filled for a test fill! Everything looks good the overflow works flawlessly and the return pump puts out good flow. I didn't glue the PVC so of course there were leaks.. None major but still nothing a little glue will fix. The only two problems were the overflow and my parents..

First the overflow.

Works flawlessly, stops and starts siphon great. The problem?

THE NOISE!!!

I can't take the gurgling! I know I should have used flex hose for the drain but I didn't feel like ordering online. :bowl: Anyone have ideas on silencers?

The second problem, Parents.

I picked a great time to fill, Parents went out to a casino and called a few minutes ago saying they were losing their pants off. (great lol) So I don't want to add to their "unhappy" mood by having a tank full of water. (long story don't ask..) But as I'm typing this post I have my pump draining the tank.

Now after that wall of text, here are some pictures!

Sump cat on the prowl..

My brother was mad that I took him away from playing COD or Half Life, whatever he was playing..

"I just need you to hold the return line"
"no"
"yes"
*unplug*
"ok fine!"

(EDIT: No, that light is not my actual light. It's just a work light because the light bulb in teh ceiling is burned out and I'm too lazy to change it.)

lol were the 'rents in a bad mood? was that why they didnt want the tank full? and whered you drain it to?

XD Well they aren't home yet.. But I wanted to get the tank drained before they got home. :bowl:

It's empty now and I just drained it down the sink drain.

And yes the sump cats approved the plumbing job I did xD

Don't tell me that. I have the same set up pretty much except my tank is drilled. Is there a ton of noise? Is there a way to silence it? I am now worried, thank you very much. *sarcasm*:eek2:

LOL I know there are silencers out there. For your case if its drilled through the bottom you could do a Durso standpipe or something similar. It's not INSANELY loud, It's just like the crashing of water in the pipes really, I don't have the "gurgle" effect.

I wouldn't panic, If you use (2) 45 degree elbows instead of (1) 90 degree I hear that makes it less of a sharp turn and thus less noise. I haven't glued anything yet so I may try the (2) 45's

Well, I think I'll start out with it being FO and maybe add LR.. I'm not quite sure. I may let it sit empty till next year when I can get a real job and blow (I mean spend..) my paychecks on LR and a protein skimmer and MH lighting.

Ultimately, I want it to be a full blown reef. That will probably be when I'm out of college though xD.

you should totally get an actually paying job (lol) at a local fish store! its a lot of fun, you get to maintain the tanks and you learn a lot too!

The LFS by me has one employee and it's the owners son (They are in like the most random shopping center, Every time I've gone in there the guy doesn't answer any questions and probably couldn't tell a clown fish from a tang. Kinda sad that I'm younger and more qualified than him.. but oh well)

That leaves petsmart or petco. The petco by me is probably going to go out of buisness, so it looks like I'm applying at petsmart! (Haha I will actually be able to tell someone "no ma'am/sir, you can't keep 10 goldfish in a 10g tank")

lol cool. too bad the petco is leaving, because the petsmart doesnt have any saltwater tanks right? mine sure doesnt, and it pisses the heck out of me

Our petsmart recently started SW. Their tanks look terrible other than their main 180g display tank (maintained by an outside company..)

If I work there I plan to make those tanks beautiful xD
