Quarantine Tank Question

Hi, Just want to ask expert hobbyists like yourselves regarding proper maintainance of a quarantine tank.

How do I manage ammonia levels in a quarantine tank? I have a 10 gallon tank.

Is Changing the water the only way? If so how often should I change the water and how much should I change?

Change the water out every few days or when ammonia levels get above a particular level. lets say 0.2

You can probably only keep 1 or 2 fish in there at a time. Water changes and some people use a amonina lock product but I dont' know how good it really works.
