What exactly is egg crate and should I get one? I think I might put rocks in my 55 and have heard the egg creates are for weight help?

They are lighting panels. Lighting Panel from The Home Depot - Model LP2448EGG-5
Put eggcrate in tank, then put rocks on top of the eggcrate, then put the substrate in. Eggcrates help prevent scratching at the bottom of your tank and distribute the weight of the rock over a bigger surface area via eggcrate.
