I don't know how it works but I did make sure the pumps and ph moniter work. The probe for the ph minister is busted and that's how I got it because the previous owner thought it may still work. He said he busted it while removing it from his tank. I tested it and it is not working so I looked into a New one and they are not very expensive the monitor is the pricy part and it works. All the other components are in good shap the guy I bought it from told me he only used it for a few monthes after purchasing it new because he had to break down his tank.
