Man made pond seems to lose water too fast

Hello I have a man made pond my uncle put in like 30years ago.but losses water quick I put 4 baby koi in there like 2 summers ago and 4 more last summer .also i think some blue gill .pond is also in full sun.prior to stocking there were just toads n tadpoles frogs n bugs.the koi grew so big really fast

Baby bluegill I think? I'll tryn c if I have any pics on my phone if not I'll go down n get some new ones later

Awesome pond, thanks for sharing. 390 years is A long time so I would not worry about the pond losing a little water :D

Years ago it dried out completely a couple times
 
So, this might seem like an obvious question, but what is the pond constructed of? Is there a liner of any sort in it? Many large ponds like that, I've seen made without a liner, counting on volume and rain to keep from drying out, but this isn't always feasible.
