Ammonia Source

I'm starting my QT tomorrow (15gal) using 2 seeded filter pads.

I plan to run it for a day and then get my fish the day after. I'm just checking that my QT will be ok without an ammonia source for a day before I put the fish in?

Or, if I should put a little bit of fish food in or something when I start it up? Or will it be ok with nothing for a day?

The bacteria will be unaffected in such a short time. Just be sure you monitor the NH3 once the fish is added.
