I think the biomax would be fine to add. It's entirely up to you, as long as there is some water flow and filtering of particulate matter you should be set.
That being said, I think I'll just put in more filter pad, I have a ton of it.

Safer this way

Okay so I have a small shopping list going:

Refractometer: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/...ion-fluid.html
LR: 8lbs (is all live rock created equal?)
Black sand: whatever is available at my lfs (is they're any that y'all suggest to get, or not to get?)

Anything else I missed?

Just ordered it

They can't hold any fish except maybe a neon goby (some say). Invertebrates only. Google ”JBJ 3 gallon picotope” under the shopping part, prices galore!

Looked it up. Around $40. Not bad. Are the lights strong enough to support corals?

Okay so I talked to my lfs and the good live rock with coraline and such, IS 12.99 A POUND!!! But I have a friend who has a couple sw tanks and said he wouldn't mind giving me some rock that would fit and be well in a 3g. Most of it isn't alll cycled, so im going to hopefully get like 6-7lbs from him, the go get the crazy expensive, good live rock from my lfs to seed it really well.
