small whit dots

also in addition to the worms i have, there are hundreds of small white clumps on the sides of my tanks, when looked at closely they look like tiny spiral shells, they are also elevated off the glass making the glass pocka dotted, are these offspring snails made from mine,

Does anyone have information on these? I started my tank in July 05' and with only 10 astral snails in my tank i have hundreds of these little white dot on the back wall and glass. What are they?

Spirorbids (do a Google search for pics, info)....they are completely harmless little filter feeders that are a sign that your tank is progressing well. They normally reduce in number after the tank is fully mature and can be removed from glass surfaces with a razor blade, credit card, commercial scraper (example...Kent scraper).
