I'm really glad to know lots of other people don't name their fish. Everyone I talk to about my tank asks me this question and they all think I'm weird that I don't name them.

I'm the same as Nils.. Schooling fish all look the same so they don't get names.

I named my cichlids, puffer, dojo loaches, discus, and fire belly toads though.

My goldfish have names as follows:

Tank A:
Mrs Peabody-stripes
Spotty
Lightening McQueen Porche (AKA Gus)
Goldie

Tank B:
Jasper
Rupert
Oscar

Tank C:
Dennis
Colin

I wish the fishies knew their names.

I have lots of other fish but they just don't have names yet.

My fish in the past were named Nick, Vincent, Diana, and Clue. My current fish are named Leid and Howl (as in Howl's Moving Castle).

It's not allowed here. People in my household have, on several occasions named fish, all of which died mysteriously. My most recent death was my prized wild cacatuoides male, which I later found out was named cookies n cream...

I don't name them either. I get too attached then maybe when they die I get more sad. But it does seem to jinx the fish.

No.... well yes.... but no. I have a few here and there that have been honoured with names. I have a L018 gold nugget plecos named Prospector. A synodontis eupterus named Mutumbo. And a red tail shark named Onimusha. But that's it out of many fish.

Wife has named a few of ours..
Jack, the jack Dempsey (no brainer)
Perry and Polly, blood parrots
Tinny, 6"+ tinfoil barb who thinks he is also a cichlid
My step dad calls my 5" Green Terror Mick Jagger, because he has big lips.

Not bad considering the amount of tanks and fish we have..lol
