Thanks!! I am not sure what to put in the dark areas yet..there is a really really cool sun coral at the lfs right now but its really pricey :( I have never had the right tank for a sun coral till now...what do they look like when they flower? The one at the lfs looks like a black stick, but they tell me their display tank dosnt have enough darkness for it... Have any if you had any luck with cucumbers? I really want to get some cool sand stuff...a sand sifting goby perhaps?? I am looking for some good stocking advice...

Haha i would like to steal your idea for my tank... Could i do it in a 30 gallon? Was it very difficult??

Sure I think you could...I will attach a pic of my old tank it was a 30 g and that rock was pretty cool too but not as cool as this.

It's all in placing a shelf and securing with soo ties. Before u put the shelf in, drill holes in the shelf to put the ties through. Also I realized that a lot of small pieces of rock is much easier to deal with than big pieces...good luck

Very original rockscaping! I like it!

Sun coral polyps usually open up at night, though they can be conditioned to be opened during hours of light.

Yellow or orange sun coral are usually most common, but here are what black sun corals (which sound like the one's you've described) look like when they flower: (on the left)

black sun corals don't look that nice IMO, but the yellow ones do, as do balanophyllia and dendrophyllia. they are beautiful-

Ohhh! I really like the yellow ones!! My lfs is pretty small, but I am going to the big one about an hour away next weekend :) I will be sure to look for some!! Today I bought a sand sifting goby...I hear he will be neat in my huge sand base

Oh no!! My watchman ended up in my overflow!! Wish me luck in catching him!!! I can only reach bottom when standing on a chair...should be interesting

yep, sure did, i will attach now...
