The sand I got was completely clean. It settled straight to the bottom and didn't cloud the water at all. As a matter of fact I just bought more sand for my 180 gallon.

Get two in case something happens to one, you still have some heat being produced. Also one on each side allows for more even temperatures

Ok thats what i though. Should i get the jagers or, i also found some ehiem ones that are completely encased in plastic or something. Should i get them because im gety some fiesty fish or just stick with jagers

Should it get two 150 watt heaters or 1 300 watt heater?

I would get a single 150- 200 watt heater, I always go for a slightly smaller heater than what I need because a heater has only so many on/off cycles before it fails. I rather it take an hour or two for the water to heat up a couple of degrees than reach the desired temp in 20 minutes then turn off/on again potentially 2-3 more times. For instance I use a 50 watt for tanks all the way up to 30 gallons.

I recommend Aquatop brand they are actually a much better heater than people give them credit for and are a fraction of the price of other brands, they also make titanium heaters if you want to go that route. Jägers have gone down hill since the company got bought out IMO.

If you put it in your sump tank you could get away with one heater. Then your keeping the water more consistent.

I have a question. The tank is 6' long and has no braces. It is older so i expected that but what kind of top can i use for it??! I looked everywhere and they all need a center brace.

You'll just have to go open top or have some custom glass pieces cut.

Im worried about fish jumpin out lol. Ik its not likely but if i do get red tigers or freddys i dont what to lose em haha.

They won't jump out just splash water! All my tanks are open tops and I haven't observed any issues or found my cichlids on the floor.

Ok. I dont mind the splashin water lmao. Thanks for the help! I cant wait till this is set up. My mom is getting mad at me because the fish tank is all i have been talking about for the last couple of weeks

Agree, my african tank is open top and have no accidents just water everywhere! But when I got mine it had a glasss center brace that I took out cause it was nasty. When I filled up my tank up it bowed hardcore, so I made three brace to prevent this. Make sure your tank doesn't bow or your seams will eventually break.

UPDATE: the tank is filled and the one filter is running. I am about to set-up the other one.
