Curious thought.... I use a syringe to fill my API tubes (makes life sooo much easier) Are you using the same syringe to fill the test tubes that you are dosing ammonia with?

That's def fouls cause it I have a diff one for all my stuff 1 for testing each tank 1 for feeding fry 1 for ammonia 3 for ferts 1 for glut 1 for prime and so on

Yes I am, but I clean out the syringe after I dose the ammonia.

Try testing not using that syringe see what happens

That would likely be the most reasonable explanation for the ammonia readings. Even a trace amount of ammonia will seem like a lot when mixed with 5ml of water.
