BTW, you ever put your red shoulder and sulphur head back into your main tank? They doing okay?

The flakes I use are homemade by the LFS.
Personally I like seeing the fish in person before I buy them, but $80 HOLY COW. my most expensive peacock was $30, and that was my adult Benga.
My most expensive fish was $65 for my adult Lethrinops Itungi.

Ya put them back last night. Still have some torn fins but they are doing good. The Sulpher head looks really good color wise despite the jacked up fins.

Yes, $80 freaking dollars!! The LFS with the sale today is def. overpriced, but they are the only LFS that carries a wide variety of cichlids. I also like to see my fish before purchasing, so I may end up picking up half my intended stock list today and ordering the remainder? I did just move my stock from my 36g bowfront to my 55g.....I guess I'll know when I go today!

Good to hear they are doing well. I love the contrast on the Sulphur Head Peacocks. Yours is a beauty! Pretty sure I already told you that though haha. Hope they don't have any future issues. Any idea why your white socolofi would attack your red shoulder and sulphur head, they look nothing alike and are 2 different species of fish.

The socolofi is Mbuna, so he's a little more aggressive, he digs out nests a lot too, so he could have just been being territorial.
Which reminds me, I don't think I have mentioned this. It's a good idea to rearrange your decorations often so no one claims territory. Like once a week.

Yea I figured he/she would be a bit of a bully seeing as how he/she is a Mbuna. Thanks for the tip on rearranging rock work at least once a week. The only issue I have to that is that I do not have many rocks, so it is a bit hard to rescape often .

Do you know if I can just move from once scape back to the original? For example, I would change my current layout now, and then in a week or 2, I would change it back my original scape. Would this be a viable option, or do I need to change things around drastically?

Here's a pic of my tank for reference.

I know it's very boring and minimal, but hey, it's a work in progress! :D

Now I just need to get some nice pics of my current inhabitants :fish1:

Ya that would work. Fish have short memories. You'll see them hanging out in the same part of the tank a lot, but it's good to not let them claim a rock or cave as there's because that will defend that really hard.
That's only while your growing them out. Once everyone is grown, and the tank is overstocked you shouldn't have aggression problems. You may have one or two fish that are still aggressive , and it's best to remove them.

Hey Squirrilah, you have any idea what a "Aulonocara Blue Fire Fish" is and what it looks like? I tried searching for images online, but they are all normal fire fish, or dragon's blood peacocks from what I can tell.

They are a line breed variation of the fire fish, also called dragon blood. They're pretty rare sense they are technically a man made fish. This is a good video of one. They are similar to a hansbaenschi or nyasse

Thank you for the info! The Blue Fire Fish looks a bit like my Ngara or Regal Blue, whichever he is haha. Or maybe a red shoulder?

Can you take a look at my revised order sheet, and let me know what you think? Basically I removed the Z Rock Lithobates and the Flavescent because I picked up a Z Rock and a Cape Maclear Peacock last night. (didn't even know this species existed until I saw it at my LFS yesterday).

1. Aulonocara lwanda
2. Aulonocara Mamela Lemon Jake
3. Otopharynx Tetrastigma
4. Aulonocara Maulana Bi Color
5. Sciaenochromis fryeri Iceberg
6. Placidochromis electra Likoma Deep Water Hap
7. Aulonocara Ruby Red
8. Aulonocara Blue Fire Fish

The only thing that worries me is that I noticed that my Cape Maclear looks almost identical to my smaller "Eureka Jake." I'm beginning to think my LFS had the Eureka Jake mislabeled. Care to take a crack at identifying him?

I will try and get a pic of my Cape Maclear tonight, for comparison.

It could be a eureka jake actually. They often come yellow like that. Or it's a Carolina swallowtail. Hard to tell from his tails position. Either way yellow dudes are pretty chill. I wouldn't worry too much.

Stock list looks really good. By my count that puts you at 15, plus the cats, which is right on. You could even add one or two more.

Funny enough, he's the only one causing issues. I got home from work to see my Cape Maclear hanging out under my heater in a very submissive way. I see that he's also going after my z rock, and will sometimes chase my blue regal/ngara. Nothing really too bad, no real nipping either, but he flares at the cape maclear alot. I just feel bad for him. Do you think I should give it a few days, since I just added the cape and z rock yesterday, or should I remove my eureka/carolina?

It's pretty normal for the new add to get picked on quite a bit. Give it a few days. He sees it as competition. Another thing to do is feed less, but more often. If possible.

Ok I figured as much, but it's always nice to have a second opinion. The feeding less but more often will be hard because of work. Any other suggestions or other things I can do/try?

Sorry for the poor quality, took it with my phone zoomed in because if I got any closer, he would run away. I didn't see him there this morning, so I guess that's a good sign?

Also, here's a pretty terrible pic of my Ngara/Blue Regal....any guesses as to what he is exactly? I will get better pics when I can.

See how he has NO red on the back half of his body? Maybe his colors just haven't come out yet?

It looks like Aulonocara nyassae to me. But I could be wrong. These peacocks look so similar, and are often mislabeled. Wait and see, but judging by it's coloring and anal fin, I think it's a nyassae
