Here is the new set up with the black sand. I think I like the looks of the tank better before with the white sand. It looked more natural like you are looking out into a lake. But the black sand really makes the fish colors pop.

Thanks I am typically the same way but when I saw this I really liked it.

This is my 75G tank. All the rock work & caves are built low and toward the back, behind the live plants. Looks awesome and my fishes love it. ;)

Wow your tank looks awesome! When I get a larger tank, I definitely want it to be planted...yours is sweet!

Thank you. :) It's an ever - changing environment as I'm sure you know. I can't let them get too cozy in any particular setup or the aggression jumps up. It's both fun & a pain in the rump to rearrange the rock work, but it keeps things clean and lively. ;)

Im certain Angels won't make it out alive with Lake Malawi or Lake Tanganyika Africans. Hope that helps somewhat. Angels are too peaceful to survive with them. ;)

Thanks,I might just keep them on their own,can I put any catfish with them to clean up the bottom of the tank or is that not advisable?

That will be fine but unfortunately Angels won't work with those. With Mbuna from lake Malawi They have a lot of special needs from water to stocking

FYI though...catfish poop a lot! For as much scavanging they do, they seem to create more mess than actually clean it. I keep striata botia loaches with my Africans because they are not only better scavangers, but their aggressiveness works well with them. Also, not so much poo...
