Which pleco do y'all prefer? I love rubber ups, but the clown looks pretty cool too. Also, if you boil driftwood and then dry it, will the tannins al go out?

Boiling the wood really doesn't remove much at all it takes a long time for all of the tannins to leech out.

Yep, I boil driftwood mostly to sterilize it.

Haha, I love driftwood and the look that it gives the tank, but how long would you guys let it sit in water? also, could I just collect some from the woods or from the lake? I would let it sit and dry and boil it.

They are cool but I found them kind of tough to care for, they are easily out competed for food.

Most plecos are very hardy, you just have to be sure of it's diet. Like the Hypancistrus species are predominantly carnivorous and ancistrus are predominantly herbivorous.

How many would I be able to fit into a 20 long? I have decided on 8 Cories, 1-2 Plecos, 2x GBRs, and possibly some Harlequin Rasboras if there is any space left. Does that sound good?

Here's a stocking list for my 20l:
2 gold rams
5 peppered cories
5 harlequin rasboras
6 neon tetra
1 lone white cloud
4 cherry shrimp
3 nerites
1 assassin
I use a sunsun 302 canister,sponge filter& a small in-tank filter mostly for moving water..

That sounds like a cool stocking list! I'm just gonna go with what I have in the list right now, once I cycle the tank. Then maybe I can add some more. Do I have to get algae wafers for the Pleco?

5 Amano shrimp
2 assassin snails and whatever they havnt killed and consumed
Filtration is a sunsun 302 and a fluval c4.
