Subscribed to your channel! I just got a nice pair of koi angels so I've got a lot of reading to do in this thread.

I'm trying to start a Youtube channel. There is 1 video uploaded so far so if someone would be kind enough to let me know if you can see it or find it, I'd appreciate it. (y)

I feel I may have over spoken also!
But at least I know some one my own age who can explain it to me!!(y)

My phone still doesn't even take pics!!
It bothers me too much to want any more from it!;)

Actually, Yes, parent raising pairs breed less often than non raising pairs. If you want more fry more often, you would be better off removing the eggs soon after they are laid. This gives the parents more time to recuperate from the exercise. (y)

Thanks Andy. I may have to move the eggs, next time. They ate the eggs again! But it's only there 2nd spawn. One more try then I'll move them out. My first pair should be spawning SOON. They've been cleaning the slate all day.

I came in this morning and was saddened to see that the shale that the Zebra Lace and Black spawned on was wiped clean. :( I never pulled the fry because they were being such attentive parents and the rock had a number of fuzzy dead eggs on it that I would never have been able to separate the fry from the fuzz. Big mistake....or so I thought. ;) I found the parents protecting the front corner of the tank and there were the fry. There's not a lot of them but enough to know if they go missing. So now they are 3 days since hatching and hopefully they will swim since there had been about a month between this and their last spawns. Fingers crossed. The irony is that this was one of the pairs I was trying out a different food on but they spawned the day I started the new food. No way there could be a correlation. :nono:

As predicted, the cory eggs were a bust. I reset up the tank and now have a trio of Sterbai in there. Hopefully I can get something out of that. The fuzz on the eggs showed just how scattered the albino female laid those eggs. 1s and 2s all over the place and big patches as well. Definitely going to do them in a smaller tank next time. For now, I want the male to rest up for his next "outing". :brows:

I spent most of the day changing water, cleaning filters and culling. I let way too many fish survive longer than I should have ( Was too busy getting my other business set up.) I now have 3 pools of fish with no fins due to the overcrowding so I am going to have to set up some other means of tanking only 25 or so fish in a single tank and letting them grow back their fins. Once this happens, I will have a lot of medium and large fish for sale. :brows:

I also may have developed a new trio. Out of a tank of 5 fish, 3 sibling Marbles, a Barred Marble and a Gold Marble, the 3 siblings had separated themselves from the other 2 and forced me to remove them from the tank. Today, 3 days after the removal of the other fish, there was a spawn in there but I don't know if all 3 participated. I do know that 2 of them spawned before and I know which 2 they were but the third fish being allowed to stay near the spawn has me wondering. Hopefully tomorrow I will see all 3 fanning then I will know for sure. (y)

Today, I thought I was going to be writing about how I've been watching the spawn size from the Black-Zebra lace pair going down every day but I just went over to the tank to look again and it turns out, the fry count hasn't been dwindling but they have been being moved so I couldn't see them. WHEW!!!!!! I thought I was down to about 5 or 6 fry when I just looked, the male came rushing to the front of the tank to scare me and a whole cloud of fry came shooting out of the corner. I repeat, WHEW!!!!! They are still a couple of days away from free swimming age so my fingers are still crossed for some swimmers.
Still waiting for the next Pleco spawn and cory spawn. I did notice the female Pleco getting a bit orange in the egg area so hopefully they will "do the deed" soon. I need more plecos for tank cleanup duty. :brows: I was only able to save 1 of the 4 pleco fry from their last spawn so i am hoping for another big on again. This time, since there are no other fish in the Pleco tank anymore, I am just going to leave the eggs in the tank no matter if the male keeps them in the tube or not. We will see if that males a difference.

Tomorrow will only be 2 weeks since I started back with the old foods so hopefully, the spawns after then will start doing better for the Angels. I'm not having much success with any of the spawns I am currently getting being parent raised but I really don't want to spend the time or taking up the tanks I need for other things ATM ( Like Guppies :brows: ). Looks like I got another pair of Marbles so now I need to start seeing some results so I can know who to keep and who to sell. I've got marbles up to my eyeballs now. :ROFLMAO: I'm getting close to needing to throw a few tanks full in my neighbor's pond so they can grow their fins back.:nono:

On a side note: Is anyone on here working with true wild Mollies? My buddy collected some ( in their native habitat) and wants to try mixing them with certain domesticated strains and wanted to know if anyone has done that yet or what their results were if they did. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:flowers

Since I moved the slate saturday night about only 1/4 of them look to be fertilized :(

First run for them though so any wigglers will make me happy

How many pairs of Angels do you have going now Andy?

Too many!!:facepalm::lol: As of this moment, I have 17 pairs that have spawned at least once, 1 pairing I am hoping will spawn together and about 5 or 6 other fish that have spawned before but I have separated the pairs in efforts to make other pairings. This is way too many for this set up I have. My biggest issue is that many of these pairs started during the dud fry phase so I can't be certain whether it's the newness of the pairs or the suspected diet issue that's keeping their fry from surviving.

You interested in some pairs? If you are, maybe we can meet at the GA/ FL border if you don't want to make the rest of the trip down. ;) Actually, winter is coming to your area soon isn't it? Time for a Disney vacation?? :brows: It was 92 degrees today where I am. Nice winter weather for sure. :D :ROFLMAO: (y)

I was just curious as to how grand things have become :fish1: I think I'm almost as bummed out as you are about your fry issue.

As for pairs I'm holding off for the moment.(future of LFS is looking rocky again) I was going to be down in your area later this month (turkey rod run in Daytona) but ended up having to get some dental work done so that $ is gone :(

Wife gets paid vacation after march, I'm shooting for a nice trip to various places in FL and a visit to your hatchery then. This past year has been very "unscheduled" so to speak which has drove me nuts. I thrive on organization and planing.

I'm hoping this winter things get back on track. I'm working towards it at least.

I'm also wanting to do the atlanta fish auction when I have stock back up if LFS goes kaput

Angelfish seem back to the norm. I think The cause was this stupid spoiled kid dropping a handful of osmocote plus in places where I wouldn't see. Ammonia was leeched. I'm pretty sure he did something to my test kit too so I will just have to order another one. Because of this I couldn't check the parameters. After 5 30-40% water changes and continuing this I hope this won't
Happen again. Saw a 20G XH that comes with everything including a 25 foot siphon and Test kit! Tank seems in good condition from the photo but I won't know unless I look at it. Hopefully I can aquire it and use it for the Angels. Seems like the perfect tank for them. Also I think they deserve a tank all to themselves. Might open up room for some stuff in the 29. Who knows? Just gotta work on acquiring the tank. Anybody got any advice on convincing parents? I already have all A's and Participate in Mathcounts so I can't use that against them.
