Also, I would love to add some kuhli loaches, but I am concerned for their safety. These rams eat snails heartily, and they defended their eggs from the dwarf gourami viciously. However, they ignore guppy fry and were otherwise totally fine in the community. Would I be setting up a disaster?

Kuhlis like to graze along the bottom. I think they'd have the same problems with Rams guarding their spawning site that Corys do.

Not at all.
Great. Going from ambient light, I'm trying for 6 hours daily. Is that too much too quickly?

I really can't believe how much I adapted to the lack of light. I thought there was a problem with my camera because I'm couldn't get any clear shots with a low ISO.

The dinosaur bubbler glows in the "moonlight." The fish are doing their sleeping stuff, though, so that's good.

Does the moonlight setting count toward the photo period?

Nah. I think it's just to give the fish a transition to darkness and look cool for us. :)

What I don't understand are some of the lighting effects, especially things like "thunderstorm." I'd think that flashing lighting would stress the fish out.

I do like the cloud settings a lot, but I totally agree on the lightning.

I'm still moving things around, so I've still got stuff everywhere and cords not set aside... The topple popple likes the lights.

Bless her she's well in to it by the looks of things. These few changes has really improved things. The tanks look alive.

I've wondered on this as well as it just seems over the top expense (never thought I'd say that..)

Thank you. She's great. I really like the new changes.

Honestly, the feature that I thought this light had that I wanted was a programmable timer. I have timers that turn off power, but nothing that would turn off day light and turn on moon light. I guess you can buy dual ramp timers, but I haven't looked in to them.

People here talking about kuhli loaches... Then seeing them in person.... Well, I brought two home today. I'm acquiring them with store credit, so I'll be able to get another four on the 18th.

Their names? Swimmy and Heidi.

THEY ARE AMAZING.

I also got some compacta via my purchasing dying plants from Petco at deep discounts method.

I can see the eyeballs on Sunny's fry, so hopefully she drops soon. Lots o activity!
