    New gourami

    I just added a three-spotted gourami. I fed it a couple times and it's going to the bathroom (lol) a lot. Is this normal? Just something gourami's do? Could it be sick or just stress from a new tank?

    What's the best way to lower nitrAtes? I'm in the middle of an algae bloom and my tank parameters are: NH3 0 ppm NO2 0 ppm NO3 40-50 ppm My tank used to always be 0-0-10. Is there a best way to do this? Water change I spose.

    Tank is not more than a year old. I have only owned it for 3 months. I think the old owner had a goldfish in it. I have never used any chemicals on it and I doubt he ever has. I know copper kills all inverts. How do I stop nitrites if they start rising? What is usually at fault?

    Mystery snail

    I just got a mystery snail last night. When I put him in the tank, he starting eating like any snail would. Now he's just sitting on the bottom inside his shell. I have pond snails and they're doing fine, so I know the water isn't bad. Is this normal behavior? Will he just come out of it?

    Clams are generally the first species to die due to environmental factors. They are very touchy about their environment. I don't really think it would be worth doing.
