Non fish related pics

Been out of fresh water for a while and a friend's tank has ich. There are neons and other community fish in that tank and most of them have ich. In the past, I've used both the salt and increase heat method and also medication with success. Was wondering what the preferred method is now...

Hmm... just noticed Form. 1 says Tropical Fish also... guess its ok. For some reason, I thought fw and sw foods would be different.

My main tank is a saltwater tank and I use Ocean Nutritions Prime Reef as one of the main foods. I just noticed that it says it's also for Fresh water fish. http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_fish_food_ocean_nutrition_dry_flakes.asp Does anyone here have experience with this on fw fish?

What type of lights? If you go with metal halides, you should have them up atleast 6-8". At that distance, salt creep shouldn't really be an issue. I used egg crate to cover my tank. Pics half way down: HERE

Seems like the only places around me that sell rubber lipped plecs are Petsmart. I never buy fish from them either, but since I couldnt find them any where else short of ordering them online, I gave it a shot. I bought 2, about 1.5-2" and they didn't last longer than 1 month. I bought algae...

It'll be apparent to you when you get them in your hands. Soak them in warm water w/ vinegar. You can run them while soaking... Scrub them and that should remove the calcium and coraline build up. That should be good enough, but if you want to take the extra step. You can soak them in bleach...

I dont recommend putting tap water directly into the tank. You should dechlor the tap water in a separate bucket first. Mix it around, then dump it into the tank. I dont understand your question about the little bubbles and new tank water...

Looks good. My gf might be interested for her fw tank. Curious to know though, what did you use to glue the rocks together? I couldnt see any glue in the pics and was wondering if the rock structure would hold-up over time.

How about tossing some java moss (or any other hardy plant) in the tank to help export nitrates?

Partial water changes are better. It would be less susceptible to adversly effecting the fish. If you are doing 100% water changes, you would have to acclimate them each time as the water parameters, temp, etc change 100%. Also, if you are doing 100% w/c, I hope you're not cleaning the gravel...

In the same tank, the betta and hatchets are fine. The tiger barbs are the ones harassing everyone!

How do you know which fish are considered low waste production fish? Small fish = low?

Fishez, do the resistors go on the short or long wire coming from the LED? Cant remember, is the short wire negative and long wire positive?

Does anyone know how to get to the 4" tube inside the reaction chamber? The one that you're suppose to cut down 1-2".

Just curious, did you end up keeping or returning it?

I put one together also, but instead I swore I wired the resistors to the positive leads of each LED instead of the negatives. ????

This is a steal, too bad I already have a tank in the works! Surprised no one jumped on this yet. BTW, what type of LR is it?

Not including other fish, my friend has 4 hatchets and a betta in a 55g tank. The betta doesn't seem to bother any other fish. I think it would be ok, as long as they have enough space.
