    maybe stalled fishless cycle

Just giving an update. Hopefully I am still on the right track. On 10/1/14 did huge water change. Probably around the 80% mark. Finally I was able to see nitrites on the chart and they where around the 2.0 ppm mark. Ammonia - 0 PPM Nitrites - 2.0 PPM Nitrates - 20 PPM PH - 7.3 Didn't add any...

    maybe stalled fishless cycle

Ok thanks I will go that route then. I will aim for about 4 to 2ppm of nitrites and then let the disappear on their own. During lunch hour I did test my water and nothing really changed from last night test results around midnight. Ammonia - 0 PPM Nitrites - 5.0 PPM Nitrates - I think still 80...

    DIY Co2

This is going on my 37 Gallon tank. Whenever I get around to dusting off my old 55 gallon; I would probably go #5 tank or a #10 tank. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-lb-CO2-Tank-NEW-Aluminum-Draft-Beer-Kegerator-Homebrew-Welding-Aquarium-/271424718973

    Canister filter.

Let me know how it works if you do. I like to try and stay local if possible and the mom and pop store where I bought my xp3 from closed down 5 years ago. So if my xp3 quits on me one day my only option is petco and they carry fluval.

    Canister filter.

I have read good things about Fulva. I have never owned though; so I won't really be able to tell you the pros and cons. Fluval 306 is rated for 70 GPH. Amazon.com: Fluval 306 External Filter: Pet Supplies This is what I have at home and it has been working for 9 years now. XP-L I think is...

Here this is where I read it at. I can't tell you from experience but it sounds like the blue priming button in the middle doesn't work that well. Oscar Fish Advice Forum :: Topic: Sun Sun canister filter priming button (1/1)

    compost substrate

Yeah I wasn't too sure either and it was just a wild idea I had. I am probably not going to risk it and just get 40 lb of eco complete for the substrate and call it good. The only thing we have in our compost is coffee grounds/old fruit/lawn clippings/fall leafs from the yard, stuff like that.

    compost substrate

Ok I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. We got a compost bin outback that we use for planting flower and garden stuff. I was wounder is it safe to use it also for a bottom layer and then add a 2nd layer of eco complete?

    hey there cycle complete?

Usually angelfish are peaceful, so I am not sure what would be causing the bulling, but I wanted to say that the tiger bards are fin picker's. So they might run around nipping at the other fishes fins and I would keep an eye on that.
