I do give them total darkness also. But the moonlight is very cool every other day or so.

I posted about the fluval light and no one responded. It was hard to find online and a tad more expensive. It does look good. So far no issues with my double bright.

I put the marineland 36-48 double bright on my 40g high. I love it. Here is a pic

My tank has definitely cleared up. I'm going to run it for a month or so and then clean my penn-plax and let the fluval go on its own. I have high hopes for this filter and so far so good.

I have had my tank for almost 11 years and I still don't know everything. Once it's cycled and the fish are happy it's great to just maintain and watch them. I slipped on my maintenance and while I didn't lose any of my fish, my aquarium took a hit and needs to re cleaned and turned around.
