cool..I'll keep an eye on them. It seems to be pretty light chasing. No hitting or continual chasing. I dont think he is one of the mean ones...I've heard they can be pretty bad...he is in the tank with guppies and they are doing just fine.

Has anyone heard of anyone adding a red ear'd slider (turtle) to their aquarium? I have a 175 and think it would be pretty cool. I understand they have to have a place to get out of the water and a U.V light for the health of their shell, but other than that is there any problem with putting one...

I am setting up a 175gal S.A. Tank. I dont like the usual "nothing but display cichlids" look. I would like it to look more natural. LOL...how would you like it if your fish did that? The tank is sitting on the night stand....one yells across the aquarium. "Come quick! their doing it again!" (2nd fish) "Damn..their worse than rabbits!" All the fish are at the front/center of the tank watching with thier noses against the glass.

Basically the way it works is this...you have a cylinder with a power head pushing water and air in....you have a collection chamber at the top and a outlet for the water (they are seperate from each other). If I were to shut of the air, it would swirl the water around in the chamber before it...

Trust me..I have been reading on the subject for two weeks....The cichlid forum is one of the main places I have been reading on. I think for the part outside the tank I am going to use regular acrylic paints and seal it. Since there is no contact with the water there shouldnt be an issue...

This is a subject that comes up very frequently on the pond message board that I am a memeber of. Bamboo is a bog plant. That means it can survive in water that covers its root by 4-6 inches. Any deeper and its gonna have problems. It doesnt require much to grow, but once it gets those things...

Tetrin...I'm pretty sure that I'm going to build one. I have a 175gal bow front, so I should be able to do a good bit inside and out. I'm selling the last of my live rock with in the week, so next weekend the reconstruction should begin! :mrgreen:

I believe that if the part of the background outside of the tank were dark enough, it would blend just fine. I wanted to do a cave...That means that the lighting would be much darker...just a few highlights on the rock to show definition in the rock.

What I want to do is put most of the DIY background on the back/outside of the tank facing into the tank. That way you can see it through the back glass. Then, put some on the inside that match up....this would make it look like the rock goes through the glass....and it wouldnt displace nearly...

I am also considering making one of these (dont want to drop the cash on the real thing). I have a large protien skimmer....Now obviously it wont skim any protien in a freshwater tank, but what about using it for the C02? It is specifically made to circulate bubbles in the main chamber before...
