Alright, I ordered my Canister ;-)

Thanks to everyone that helped me pick out a canister filter. I ended up going with the Filstar XP3 from Big Al's. Sounded like it offered a lot of bang for the buck. I'll keep you posted.

    Phernetton (Sp) "Eel"

Ferneton, Frenetton, Franeton - I don't know. I recall several years ago when I lived with my parents buying one of these "Eels". It was probably about 5" when I got it, and close to 2.5 feet when I found it on the floor one morning. It wasn't a very social fish -- mostly burrowed into the...

    Fahaka

Alright, I went to the LFS expecting to get the knitty-gritty on a hood for a plant tank... When, all of a sudden, I saw my dream puffer... The Fahaka was probably 3.5" - 4" and $39 -- a really good deal IMO. What do you think? I've seen numerous pictures and even videos on the net of them...

    Some Jebo Questions -

Alright, I'd like to start a 55 gallon plant tank. Unfortunately, I'm pretty naive when it comes to aquatic plant tanks, so I need some help. Based on another post, it sounds like Jebo is the way to go (as far as saving in costs). So, having said that, here is what I have in mind: Jebo...

    Fluval 404 vs. Magnum 350

I'd love to hear preferences/stories. If you like another canister better, tell me about it, too. I'm in the market :-). -Thanks!

    Re-did my tank. Whatcha think?

I used to have a lot of drift wood in here (ok, not the best for Lake Tanganyika Cichlids), but I got a wild hair to redecorate. I recently moved into a new neighborhood... The construction workers left several pallets of bricks laying around our house, so I decided to put them to use. The...

    Blue Dolphin Catfish?

Hey. I recently made a trip to one of my LFS and discovered a "catfish" that I had never seen before--it was marked "Blue Dolphin Cat". They were $49 @ roughly 4". I personally thought they resembled a Baby Whale--perhaps a relative of the Knife family. All of them were sort of hovering on...

An unexpected problem & important question...

Hey guys, Well, I've come across a BIG problem! My 30 gal. has a leak on the bottom. I just got done transferring the mollies, guppies, tetras, and cories to my parents' house. It seems all of the fish are fine, fortunately. Now, here's my question... Could I get away with (for the mean...

    Albino versus Leucistic

Hey guys, I was just wondering what the difference is between albinos and leucistics. It seems to me that leucistic fish are white while lacking the traditional red eyes. Is that the main difference? Also, in general, which are more valuable? I remember reading about a leucistic arowana in...

    Possible? -New Tank Inhabitants Q

Hello. Seeing how my roommates and I are bored and gushing with free time, we've decided to build a DIY aquarium/hood/stand. Right now, it looks like it'll be 125 gallons... However, this may change based on a few of your opinions. I love Cichlids--they're beautiful, relaxing to watch, and...

    Cichlid Pond

I was just curious if any of you have tried/heard of an outdoor Cichlid pond. I'm not very familiar with the pond scene, but it seems feasible, to me, that if you lived in a warm enough place, you could have a pretty bang'n Cichlid pond. Also, if you lived in an area that got fairly cold for...

    Flowerhorns-

A couple of months ago, I set up my first tank in several years. After quite a bit of thinking/research, I opted to get a few SA cichlids; more specifically: a Red Devil (approx. 4.5"), a Green Terror (approx 2.5"), and a pair of Convicts. (A small Pleco as well.) With Christmas approaching...

    Smaller Arowana

Hi. I'm in the process of setting up a new 55 gallon FW tank, but I've got a few questions I'd like some advice on. A few years ago, I had a Jardini Arowana that I absolutely loved... Unfortunately, it quickly became too large for its tank & I was forced to get rid of it. I'd very much like...
