Got the GBRs, paraiba angels, tetras, a couple corys and our guppies in here right now. As we get our new fish we will be swapping them with these guys. (We are using some substrate that is full of healthy bacteria as well as plants and some well seeded filter media from one of our other well...

    90 gallon stocking tips

Get some otos if you dont have them already. They do an amazing job of getting rid of algae! But that is all they will eat, so you do have to have continuous algae. Ive tried feeding mine algae wafers but all of my other fish get to them first.

    90 gallon stocking tips

Well we just finished building and painting or stand an bought our new tank a few days ago, and started thismorning with setting up the tank. And our new lights came just as we got our plants in there. We are still working on it, and putting in some vallis, amazon swords, cabomba, and other...

    90 gallon stocking tips

We have never had the chinese algae eaters before so thanks for the tips. We may just stick to ottos then. Since we have a ton of them anyway. Not sure that we want plecos at all but we will keep them in mind. We likely wont get fry from our tetras because of our high PH. I suppose its still...

    90 gallon stocking tips

Lol we are not big fans of platies! We had some sunburst platies at one point but found that they just created alot of waste compared to our other fish.

    Wigglers At Last!!!!!

No luck. This morning the eggs turned white and got picked off. Is he maybe not fertilizing them properly? He did seem to be aiming a bit high when he was doing his thing.

    Wigglers At Last!!!!!

Mine too! Lol they actually just finished spawning. It was so interesting to watch the process. The only downside is we tested our water yesterday and our PH is 8.0. So I'm not sure about survivability.

We were following the directions on the bottle but today we also started some metro. The guy at the LFS that we usually trust was in today so he also told us to use the metro and then force feed.

    Wigglers At Last!!!!!

I would love to see more long veil tails. Out of all of the angels Ive seen around here I have never seen any as long as his. Hopefully he passes this to his babies! And thank you for directing me to this thread. I don't think it's even possible for me to have more questions after reading thru...

    internal parasites

Our paraiba angel has had this problem for quite some time now. At first he seemed ok, for the first few weeks we had him, and then when we noticed the white stringy poop, not just him, but some of our other fish as well, we used kanaplex, as suggested by Big Al's. It seemed to work for all the...

    Breeding Apistogramma

Well Im going to assume that the eggs are gone. She stopped being aggressive and isn't in her rock anymore. Oh well! Now that We know she's spawning we will maybe try to move them to their own tank so they're more comfortable next time.

    Breeding Apistogramma

We are expecting the angels to spawn again really soon. In your experience are they good for parent raising? Will they eat their fry at all? Our last batch of eggs didnt make it as we were not prepared for them, and we tried to move the eggs into their own tank to artificially hatch them, ( we...

    Breeding Apistogramma

Yeah I was kind of thinking that as long as shes still being protective they are probably there somewhere, but i just cant see them! I think we will just hope for the best and keep an eye on the tank and maybe we will see some fry in a few days! Will let everyone know if I see any.

    Breeding Apistogramma

Its a purple apple snail, we moved him into a tank with a zebra loach a few weeks ago because we had no where else to put him, and we have since gotten rid of the loach but the snail is just hanging out on the underside of the driftwood, we actually checked him this morning because we thought he...

eggs were on the side. Do they just eat them if they are not properly fertilized like the angels? I did notice her pecking at them, but was assuming that she was picking off fungus or anything else that may have been wrong with them. Would you recommend moving any of the other fish out of the...

    Breeding Apistogramma

Well earlier I saw the eggs and she was most definitely guarding them. But then I couldnt see them anymore. I read that they sometimes move them, but I figured that she would be guardin a new area if that was the case.
