Tank questions & showing off :).

San Antonio zoo :). It was pretty awesome. It's a zoo & aquarium. There were a lot of fish there. In two weeks I plan on going to Missouri, & going to the St. Louis zoo! Should be a good time.

Tank questions & showing off :).

Went to the zoo today. Wanted to share some pictures :). & this last one was a hippo exhibit. But they had thousands of cichlids in it. I took a picture from the side of the exhibit, & you can't see to the other side of the aquarium. That's how giant it is. There's so man cichlids in there. I...

New fish, I wanted to show off!!!

Just watched it again, & I noticed the glare on the glass from the flash. Ah I know how you feel, sometimes the driftwood gives my oscars some good tears in their scales. It usually heals up fairly quickly though. I get so nervous when they are spawning because their breeding rituals are pretty...

Yeah buddy! I know, my family is here from Missouri, & they got to witness it. They've never seen anything like that in their life. Lol. They enjoyed it just as much as I do :). Here's the eggs, kind of a crappy picture but I'll get another one tomorrow. I think this might be the most she has...

New fish, I wanted to show off!!!

Haha the superworm must've moved in his mouth because he sure freaked out & dove right into the glass lol. Awesome video man :). & I said it already, but I like the way you've got them rocks setup.

Just means he's growing up. A fully grown bristlenose will have a bushy face. Google image it. It looks awesome :)

Wow, I just noticed this. Look at his bristles, you can see one is starting to branch out barely. I can not wait for his face to be covered!! Got excited, thought I'd share the news :)

Yeah, I definitely like the bunched up rock design better than the spread out one. Great tank bro.

Dang! I like the tank. To be honest, I like the first rock setup the best. But that's just me :). I'm glad he/she is back home!

Dang! That pretty much means it's cycled, that's what I would think at least!

I'd go ahead & wait as well. I want a lake full of oscars! That'd be so beast.

What all are you waiting for on the cycle, for it to be finished? & good. Being banned from something you like isn't fun. Lol.

    DIY- 75g 2x4 stand!

Yeah, I know. I followed the whole thing, took me about an hour lol. I really liked it though! It inspires me to get another tank! I really want one lol.

    DIY- 75g 2x4 stand!

Wow, just read through this whole thread. Great job on that stand man. Looks great & I love that light idea. I think I'm going to do the same thing on mine now! Lol.

    My 55g single oscar tank

The only way to tell on oscars is witnessing them laying eggs. If you see it lay eggs then it's obviously a female, but the only time to tell is when they are actually laying & fertilizing the eggs. Other than that, I have never heard of another way of telling the difference.

But in the wild they are eaten, benefiting whatever ate it. Here they just died pointlessly, no bueno. But I get your point, I thought I learned from my mistakes after 4 times. I guess I'll add this to the list of "things that can & will go wrong" lol.

You said this & my first thought was you were talking to me. My initials are JLW. Lmao. To funny.

I'll definitely have to do that, this is like the 5th time I've moved them over, & then had a massive die off. It's frustrating when you care about every little life, knowing your responsible for their life & their death. It can be very heart breaking.

Well my LFS is pretty cool, the lady knows her stuff. She has some rare fish sometimes so I'm sure she'll know what I'm talking about & can find some more me. She's also the one I'd sell these fry too. Speaking of them, I lost a bunch of them :/. Another mistake on my part. I guess they were...

Ah I like both of those fish. 4-5 of either one sounds reasonable. I'm not sure which one I'll get, I suppose the easiest to find lol.

I saw two websites that said minimum tank size 20 gal. What do you think?
