I recently started up this 5.5 gallon and put in my crypts from the previous tank because I wanted to change from gravel to floramax. However I did realize that my crypts would melt, but will they come back because they look in pretty bad shape... :(

Is it possible that I can keep high light plants with low light plants? Right now my tank has low light plants with a finnex ray 2. I've been looking into ludwigia and rotala. Is it possible that they can be in the same tank? I am also currently dosing flourish excel.

This is my father's 55 gallon hexagon reef tank. It setup this last summer. We built a background for it and gives the tank a more natural look. I would recommend building a background before setting up a reef tank because of the looks, less dead spots, and extra locations to put coral frags...

Is it true that dosing flourish excel or liquid carbon can reduce algae levels? In my mind, I actually would think it would cause more algae because of the available nutrients. Is it just said for people to buy the product, or can it actually reduce algae? Thanks
