I have 5 of Snaily's babies in a breeder net now, so I'm hopeful they'll get big enough to avoid being food.
I got the API pH test kit today after using a phenol red kit for several months. Very different results. I wish I had not waited until I was out of the phenol to get the API test because I'd like to verify that it's the different tests, not that there was a big change in the tank.
I don't foresee myself buying anymore test kits than necessary! That's interesting on test results and had heard of this a few times. Would be interested if you do any comparison test work next time or anything.
Tested ammonia on the big tank and found myself giddy that it is 0. I was so worried that adding so many fish at once would overwhelm the system. The water clouded up quite a bit, which is disappointing, but 0 ammonia makes me very happy.
This tank has only been up since September, so it's still pretty fresh.Congrats! Imo, the older a tank the more robust the bacterial population is but always a worry with new fish.
