I'm thinking of buying a 30 gal. tank i'll probably buy it from craiglist...i was wondering if (excluding the tank) 100 dollars was enough to buy basic supplies...

If you shopped smart for filter, greavel ectc. It should be enough. Filter 25, heater 15, if you go with a pool filter sand substrate you should be ok.

yea thats what I thought..i could put the basics in....then while its cycling i could save to buy more stuff....then after a couple months of cycling I should have enough to complete it....

Edgar, I would think you could find a complete setup for $100 on craigslist. Sure maybe you may not like a few things that come with the tank but you can always change stuff.
Just make sure you are careful what you buy on Craigslist. You dont want to get burnt if you are tight on funds. Make sure you do a water test, ask about the history of the tank, how old......
