I Picked up a 30 gallon tank with everything needed for it for 50$ yesterday! Did some work on it and got it looking pretty nice! Spray painted it black, and did all that fun stuff!

The plan for this tank, is to house some guppy fry for a bit, and Possibly it may be made into a livebearer tank! Wel see!

I'm going to go with that iwagumi style, and use low light and low tech plants like java fern, java moss, and Anubis! So if you'd like to follow along, please do! :)

I forgot to mention that in going to try and keep this build under $100!! So far I'm in it 60$: tank, sandpaper, and play sand! I will keep track of all my expenses and try to show that you can make a nice tank even with a low budget!

For now, here's a picture of my current tank, a 40 gallon freshwater community! :)

Pretty darn good but can I make a suggestion... remove the piece of DW on the right so you eye flows from top left to bottom right without that piece of DW there. You've got a good flow but that is throwing me off. Maybe if it had plants on it too?

Great start! I love guppies in a planted tank. Since the tank was used you'll probably want to go to Lowes or walmart to pick up a fresh daylight bulb for the light fixture. If it's old it may grow more algae than plants. They're usually around $5-$8 bucks.

If you do end up taking out that piece of driftwood you could easily use it in the new tank.

Tell the krib sorry to lose his home but that makes all the difference in how the tank looks. Looks good!

Look at these pieces of manzinita wood!!! My moms boyfriend has a bunch on his property and these are just a few pieces he brought over!!!

Lucky you! You should see if he has any multi branch ones.

Yeah!! He said this is just 2 pieces, he says he has a ton! And it's at another one of his properties! So wel see! :)

Heck if that is the case you could figure out how to ship them and start selling them. People always want nice pieces!

How awesome is that! I'd pay for some pieces. For dead branches that stuff's like petrified cash! Okay, I know it isn't petrified, but still...

Haha yeah I told him that and we're gonna see what we can do! :) anyone near the San Diego area?!

I had a feeling you were in California somewhere...lol...manzanita grows like weeds out here...all over the foothills. Farmers in the hills laugh at you when you knock on their door asking if you might cut some. They ask how much they have to pay you to take it out! ;-). I need to go hunting...
